Honors Scholarship 2020-21 Applications Open Nov. 2
The Westminster Honors Scholarship provides prestigious academic awards for rising ninth-grade students in the Augusta area. In the tradition of academic scholarships found at our finest universities, this scholarship intends to attract the most exceptional students from the CSRA to Westminster's Upper School program.
One scholarship is awarded each year and covers half of tuition; scholarships are renewable each year for recipients who maintain at least an 85 academic average.
To be eligible for scholarship consideration, a student must:
- be a new student to Westminster.
- be currently enrolled in eighth grade.
- be nominated by an adult outside the student’s family (i.e., a current or former teacher, school principal or guidance counselor, pastor, family friend, or Westminster alumnus/a).
- submit a complete application for admission.
- complete a campus visit day.
- complete an on-campus interview and group testing.
Process for Nominee
Step 1: Apply for Admission
Nominees will be notified by phone upon receipt of the nomination. All nominees must complete and submit the admissions application between November 2, 2021 - January 29, 2021, along with the $75 application fee. To be considered complete, an applicant’s file must include 1) a copy of the applicant’s most recent standardized testing, 2) a school transcript including first semester grades, 3) recommendations from the applicant’s current English and math teachers, and 4) a disciplinary record.
Step 2: Schedule a Campus Visit
All nominees are required to complete a campus visit on or before February 5, 2021. This campus visit includes shadowing a Westminster student for a day.
Step 3: Apply for Tuition Grant
All nominees are encouraged to complete the tuition grant application. Some honors scholars could also receive need-based tuition grant complementing their merit scholarship. Questions about eligibility or the application process should be addressed to the admissions office at 706.731.5260 ext. 2220. Step 4: Complete Group Testing
All nominees are required to complete admissions testing on February 6, 2021, at Westminster.
Step 5: Interview
All nominees are required to participate in an evaluation interview. These interviews will be conducted following the group testing on February 6, 2021.
Step 6: Notification
We will notify the recipient of the Westminster Honors Scholarship by phone the week of February 17, 2021. All other nominees will be notified by mail.
