Visual Arts
In the lower school all students participate in art and learn to develop fine motor and visual communication skills by completing projects in a variety of media. Students celebrate God-given creativity while working with clay, chalk and oil pastels, painting and drawing, and printmaking. Students also study art history and renowned artists as they learn different techniques. PK3-5th grade students participate in an annual Art Extravaganza to showcase their work and 5th grade students paint a mural every year as their Legacy Project. This art work can be seen all around Pamplin Hall as permanent art installations.
Middle school and upper school students continue their studies of visual arts with a variety of opportunities to enter competitions and exhibit their work. Grades 9-12 can join the National Art Honors Society and get involved in art shows and art scholarships while serving in the arts.
Westminster students have won over 2,000 awards in local, state, and national art contests, including two silver medals from the National Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards, and a perfect score in AP Studio Art.
