Chorus and Band
Westminster's music program is devoted to developing student talent for the benefit of others and the glory of God. We actively participate in the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) which offers exceptional opportunities for students beyond the classroom. Students who participate in GMEA events receive awards on transcripts and at Honors Assemblies.
The Lower School Music Program at Westminster blends Kodály, Orff, and Dalcroze pedagogies, fostering students' abilities in singing, playing, dancing, creating, reading, improvising, and exploring different musical cultures. Students engage with a beautiful array of music centered on God and His creation, singing these songs in weekly chapel and experiencing worship through music. Each year, they explore various countries and time periods through dance, song, and instrumental music, culminating in performances. Our students are taught to view all music through a biblical lens, worshiping the Lord in diverse ways.
Starting in grade 6, the Middle School Music Program offers chorus or band classes, welcoming students with or without previous experience to learn new instruments or hone their singing abilities. Those continuing into Upper School can join the Voices of Westminster vocal ensemble or the pep band. Both Middle School and Upper School chorus and band participate in various community performances and beyond.
