Middle School

In the Middle School years, students’ minds become more inquisitive and are prone to challenge information as they begin to think more critically. We recognize that students learn in different ways, and we want to do all that we can to help students identify and use their strengths, grow in their areas of struggle, and discover areas of interest. In order to do so, our talented faculty use a variety of instructional methods and assessments in teaching students so that they can flourish. Our teachers also see the whole student and make it a priority that all students know they are seen, heard, and loved for who God has created them to be. Our hope at Westminster is that students will develop lifelong learning skills, grow in their relationships with one another, and see that all truth is God's truth as we point students to the Lord.

A Note from the PrincipAL

As we bridge the gap between the Lower and Upper School, life in the Middle School is truly an exciting time: students change so much physically, academically, emotionally, and spiritually in these three years. The teachers and I love being a part of this important stage! Our Middle School program is designed to help students thrive by offering many extracurricular opportunities, sharpening study skills, and providing an appropriately challenging curriculum. A Christian worldview is a part of all we do - the classroom, GAP groups, clubs, athletics, fine arts, and our discipline system.  Teachers love their subject and this transitional age, and they consider it a joy to disciple these students while teaching them.

Middle School Highlights

Outdoor Classroom (ODC)

Experiential learning is an important part of teaching in the middle school. Each grade level goes on an annual trip for outside hands-on learning. These trips form some of the students' fondest Westminster memories.

Washington DC Trip - 8th Grade ODC

8th graders go on a week long Washington, DC outdoor classroom trip. They are taught by our fine teachers as they visit key sites in our nation's capitol.

MS Field Day

The day begins with an all-school picnic. Then middle schoolers compete in an afternoon of fun games, including slip n' slide and kickball. The day ends with popsicles on the courtyard when the winning team is crowned "Field Day Champions".
