Dr Brower speaking to lower school

Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain (Psalms 127:1). Since 1972, God has built a wonderful Christian school at Westminster Schools of Augusta, and He has provided countless laborers over the years to “build” in His strength and for His glory. Westminster has been, and continues to be, a story of God’s amazing grace. As our 2024-2025 theme verse from Colossians 2:6-7 emphasizes, it is our earnest desire that students would be rooted and built up in Christ and established in their faith in Him. Through this training and equipping to develop the Christian mind, we envision our graduates bearing much fruit for God’s Kingdom, in their various walks of life where they are called and placed by God!

Reviewing Westminster’s rich history, I stand in awe and amazement at the sacrifices and commitment of early school founders who caught the vision of First Presbyterian Church of Augusta for a Christian school to be planted in our community. With over 50 years of serving families desirous of Christian education, it is evident that the Lord has clearly honored their vision, generosity, and persistent prayers through His faithfulness to our beloved school.

As the Head of School at Westminster, I am deeply committed to keeping Christ at the very center of all that we do as we press towards the future with enthusiasm and anticipation of how God will lead us forward for His glory!  That we get the opportunity to offer Christian education to students from ages 3-18 is so humbling and inspiring! We can only imagine the impact that our graduates might have as they go forward as men and women who bear the name of Christ.

For families interested in coming to Westminster, they should expect the following:

The discipleship of students and their hearts for Jesus will be our highest aim;

Our biblically saturated, excellent educational programs would be first rate in equipping the mind, nurturing the soul, and shaping the character so students might flourish in their life calling from God;

The heartbeat of our school community will be Gospel-driven, relationally focused, and grace-filled in attitude and action;

All students will be treated as image bearers of God with great dignity, immeasurable worth and value, and viewed with high capacity as we aim to educate the whole child for the glory of God;

Our faculty and staff will relationally engage with the whole child intellectually, spiritually, physically, and socially while fostering a joy in learning that, Lord willing, will serve as a foundation for an impactful life of godly leading and serving others.

Westminster will have a presence and a connection through the winsome engagement of the greater community of the CSRA.

The wise stewardship of God’s resources given to Westminster will be for the means of advancing Christ’s Kingdom so that He may be glorified.

As a Westminster community, we will strive to radiantly shine as a beacon of great hope to a broken world desperately in need of restoration and renewal offered by Jesus Christ at the cross. So as we move into the future, may we be guided by the words of Christ, “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

The Resurrection

How significant this is for our students to know and understand that when Jesus shows up in our lives, it is not with a wagging finger, or expressions of shame and frustration with our shortcomings that we just need to fix and get right.

If one were to ask you, “What makes Westminster distinct, or what sets it apart?”, my hope would be that part of your answer would be that we are striving to view all of life, learning and living as falling under the lordship of Jesus Christ - without exception.
