GOLF

TaylorMade Invitational (Waynesboro CC) – March 18
We finished 16th of 20 teams.
Colin Nunziato was our low player with a 94.

Bulloch/Pinewood Match – March 20
We finished 21 shots behind Bulloch yesterday on their home course but beat Pinewood.
Charlie Grinalds led the team with an 86.  Porter Grinalds and Henry West shot 89.  The golf course was very difficult as it hosted a major collegiate event last weekend.

SOCCER

It was another eventful weekend on the pitch for the Boys Varsity team!

With six away games in a row, our soccer road journeying will soon become much less starting next week and going forward with six of our last seven at home.

Regarding this weekend: While Deerfield-Windsor did not have the legs under them after multiple consecutive games, we did see us handily score six goals, have all players on the pitch for significant minutes and Eli Allsup in goal came up with a significant save to protect the shut-out.

We saw Josh Romero score his 1st HS goal, William knocked in a PK, but it was Caleb who got us on the boards first, then Watts chipped in a pair just before Eli Daniel came up from the back and scored a nice goal. (Assists: William-2, Watts, Caleb, JB) It was fun to see all players contributing and enjoy the match.

We knew Calvary was going to be a more formidable opponent. Playing on a small pitch, against this feisty team we had to step up our efficiency in the box. Gavin scored the first of his 2 goals in the first 5 minutes, followed by his 2nd goal 8 minutes later to go up 2-0.

William scored on a beautiful pass from Creed, dummied by Caleb (like 1/2 an assist Caleb), and Watts netted his 3rd goal for the weekend for the 4-0 win. (Assists: JB, Creed, William)

Also, very noteworthy was Henry’s huge save that like Eli’s save, preserved the shutout as Henry had a point blank shot he blocked only to turn back a 2nd quick shot. …not to mention his intimidation on the PK, that saw the Calvary player’s shot sail over the crossbar. Well done keepers!!!

Everyone played a role and all were needed this weekend. I’m grateful for EACH and EVERY player!

While many more games are yet to be played, we are already over 1/2 way through our regular season and find ourselves 10-0-1. Congratulations, Wildcats!
