Way to go, Wildcats!

Athletics News: Football | Westminster

After having to endure their first two games of the season being cancelled, the Westminster varsity football team finally started their season this past Friday as they faced off against Young American Christian School (YACS).  The Wildcats came away with a victory and the final score on the evening was 47-6.  The defense was strong for the Wildcats, collecting two safeties and holding the YACS Eagles to only one second half touchdown.  The defense was led by Chris Booker, Ryan Shiley, Thomas Freeman, and Allen Grinalds who combined for over 20 tackles on the night.  The offense was once again sparked by Carter Huss and Whitt Tisdale.  Huss threw for a touchdown to Allen Grinalds and carried the ball for almost 50 yards rushing, while Tisdale scored three times on the night (2 rushing and 1 punt return).   Henry Waller also got in on the action scoring a rushing touchdown as well as one in the air thrown by Levi Murphey.  After the Wildcats were up 44-0 in the first half they let off the gas, but still managed a field goal by Will Puckett in the final half.

The team will face a tough opponent this week, in defending state champions Westwood School.  The game will once again be at home at Wildcat Stadium starting at 7:30pm.
