Girls MS Basketball finishes strong, as well!

Athletics News: Basketball | Westminster

BOYS:

Semifinal:

WSA 50 EDS 23

We came ready to play on Thursday dominating the first quarter scoring 23 points using a 3/4 court press and consistent shooting. The second quarter we maintained our lead closing the half ahead by 16 points, 34-18. Once again we opened the lead up in the third and put nails in the coffin. EDS had no answer for our presses swapping between a 3/4 court and a man-to-man kept them on their heals. We outscored them 10-3 in the 3rd extending our lead to over 20 points. We then closed out the semifinal playoff game holding them to 2 points in the 4th giving us a 27 point win.

Championship:

WSA 26 Heritage Academy 22

WSA jumped out to a early lead with two 3's from Murphy. The other starters chipped in sharing the load and the first quarter ended with WSA up 12-4. In the second quarter WSA continued to have the HA offense on lockdown. Fox used some slick ball handling and shooting to extend the lead. At the half WSA was up 19-7. The 3rd quarter was a lot of defense as each team scored 3 leaving the score 22-10 at the start of the 4th. In the 4th HA offense showed up. They made a run connecting on some 3s from the outside and hitting a few free throws. Our lead was cut to 4. Coach Keenan called a timeout and regrouped our boys. Some strong play from Anderson and Jeffords sealed the deal bringing the first Middle School Championship to WSA. Our boys closed the season undefeated at 12-0.
