Both the boys and girls teams are headed to the AAMSL tournament!

The middle school basketball teams wrapped up the regular season last week with games against EDS. Both A teams now head to the AAMSL Tournament this weekend. The boys enter as an undefeated #1 seed and the girls will play as the #2 seed!
BOYS:
A Team WSA 49 EDS 13
B Team WSA 35 EDS 18
A Team: We lead start to finish with containing, trapping, and attacking defenses that baffled EDS all night. The first quarter we slowly built a 5 point lead 10-5. In the 2nd quarter we started to open it up with strong defense that lead to offense through turnovers, closing the half with a 27-10 lead. Just when you thought we couldn't play any better, we turned it up another gear in the 3rd quarter. In the 3rd we outscored EDS 20-3. We spread the wealth with 6 players scoring in the 3rd. We then closed out our final home game of the season with a dominating 36 point win.
B Team: We started slow having trouble against the EDS full court press. Giving up points on turnovers that left us behind 7-5 at the end of the first quarter. We turned it around quickly in the 2nd with our 3/4 court press applied by Johnson, Barrett and Richardson. EDS did not score in the 2nd while we scored 12 primarily from steals creating instant offense. The 7th graders played the 3rd quarter and continued the strangle hold on the EDS offense holding them to just 2 points. We closed the quarter ahead 26-9. We finished our final game of the season with a 17 point win over the team who had beaten us by 10 three weeks ago.
GIRLS:
WSA 20 EDS17
Our WSA girls played an outstanding game last night. We had a strong first half with aggressive playing. The outside attack was led by Julia Berman and Carolina Jordan. Georgia Anderson led the inside attack under the hoop. At halftime, the score was 9-9. In the second half of the game, we improved our offense and had a well-rounded team effort. Molly Bramhall and Carolina Jordan cashed crucial shots in the second half. It was a great game with a raucous crowd cheering the Lady Wildcats to victory.
Standouts:
Carolina Jordan and Julia Berman scored exciting three-pointers.
Georgia Anderson held a very strong, aggressive defense.
We did a great job not fouling and finishing our shots.
