Congratulations, swimmers!

Westminster Wildcats traveled to Watkinsville, GA last Friday and swept the GISA meet. All four teams placed first beating out Augusta Prep., and Westfield. The Middle school’s girl team had a definitive victory despite being outnumbered. The meet went quickly so everyone had to rely on their conditioning to overcome swimming with very little rest in between events.
Our Varsity Girl’s captain, Elizabeth Rucker had this to say about competing during the year of Covid.
“Let me be the first to say that this season has been an adjustment. It’s been hard to get motivated, difficult to see past all the new regulations, and tough to have joy amidst the uncertainty. But this Friday’s meet was proof to me that having fun is a choice. We made a choice the minute we got off that bus to walk into that meet and have fun rather than be frustrated with the chaos of this season. Yes, this swim season is different. I have been swimming competitively for seven years and I’m upset this is how my swimming career is ending. But, I am going to choose joy in this journey. I am going to see the good instead of the bad. And I challenge you to do the same. I am so proud of everyone who swam on Friday. Not because we did amazing, but because we worked hard and had fun. And right now, this season, that is all we can do.”
Conditions are NOT perfect this year but WSA swimming continues to persevere.
