OKtober Month
General
11/2/2020
This past month Westminster Schools of Augusta dove into why it's "OK" to be really respectful, kind, different and servant-minded, in times when the world may tell us otherwise, through "OKtober." Our students had the opportunity to listen to guest speakers, take part in meaningful discussions, and plan service projects throughout this past month.

In conjunction with "OKtober," Westminster Head of School Mr. Case sent a video to all Lower School classes reading out loud Catalina Echeverri's book, "God's Very Good Idea." The book serves as a reminder to our students that differences and diversity are celebrated by God. Mrs. Vinson, the lower school counselor, continued this lesson with students through a visual art project. Each lower school student had the opportunity to place their handprint on the canvas forming a cross, reminding us that we are all image-bearers of Christ.
Our Middle and Upper School students attend chapel talks with guest speakers, completed kindness surveys, and began discussing the different ways students can show respect to one another. The older Upper School students wrote uplifting notes and placed them in grade 9 & 10 lockers. The Middle School students hosted an art competition, with the challenge to create a piece that celebrates what it means to be made in God's image. Based on Ephesians 2:10, "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." See their artwork below!
