Cross Country Update - Week 6

The middle school teams won handily!

Both varsity teams were off this week preparing for the back half of the season. They will take their only trip across the river next Saturday (October 3) to compete in the Fox Creek Invitational.
After a rain out last Friday, the middle school teams had a chance to race on Friday on the newly redesigned EDS course on their Flowing Wells Campus. A midday shower followed by bright sun made the course wet, hot and humid, but both the girls and boys teams were up to the challenge. Racing against some of the smaller schools in the league, both teams won easily. The girls claimed 5 of the top 10 places. Leading the way was Molly Bramhall (2nd) followed by fifth graders Sue Berman (6th) and Shea Rice (7th). Kassidy Watson (9th) and Joliene Romero (10th) rounded out the team’s top finishers. In the boys’ race, the Johnson/Joiner duo continued to be too fast for their opponents with Lucas Johnson claiming his fourth win in five races and with Patrick Joiner just seconds behind. Caleb Lambert (7th) also finished in the top ten.
Next up for the middle school is a return to Wildwood on October 1 to take on Greenbrier and several other teams on the longer 2.1 mile course.
