All of our Cross Country continue to excel!

The middle school and varsity cross country teams ran in different meets for the first time this season and both meets had a bit of an unusual format.
The middle school traveled to Milledgeville on September 10 for the GMC Small School Showcase. To minimize COVID risks, meet officials chose to have each team run the course separately starting in five minute intervals. Teams were then racing a clock instead of other teams. The Wildcats drew the last starting time and were able to see the times of some of the other runners. Knowing the time to beat, Lucas Johnson ran the two mile course in a personal record 12:07 to notch his third win in four tries. Patrick Joiner’s time was good enough for 8th place and fifth grader Caleb Lambert, running in his first meet, finished 12th. The boys’ team finished fourth. On the girls’ side, the Wildcats placed 5 girls in the top 20 and won their first meet of the season. They were again led by Molly Bramhall (6th) and Kassidy Watson (7th). Two fifth graders Sue Berman, running in her first meet, and Shea Rice finished 12th and 14th, while Isabelle Rich finished 18th.
The varsity stayed local this week, competing in the Augusta Prep Invitational with 9 other high schools including most of the local public and private school teams. To minimize COVID risks, Augusta Prep elected to make this meet a No Spectators meet. Though the area around the finish line was strangely quiet, the Wildcats were unaffected with both teams running their best races of the season. Eight runners set personal records and 16 posted season best times. Fabulous freshmen Adam Lippe (7th) and Abigail Knight (6th) again led their teams. Claire Peacock (8th) and Rachel Goodell (20th) also finished in the top 20 to lead the girls to a third place finish. Brad Joiner (12th) and Jacob Hanna (19th) joined Lippe in the top 20 and the boys finished 4th. For the first time in many years, both teams finished ahead of Augusta Prep.
Congratulations to all of our runners!
