Athletics Update 8.4.20
Welcome back, Wildcats!
We are all eager to be back under the Friday night lights and to participate in fall sports again! Please be patient, as we are still in the process of finalizing the fall athletic schedule. All fall schedules will be posted to the online calendar at wsa.net/events and to the individual sports pages (go to Athletics>Teams&Coaches), once they are finalized.
Plan now to enjoy lots of Wildcat athletics this fall – Middle School and Varsity Football and Cheerleading, Middle School and Varsity Cross Country, Middle School and Varsity Clay Shooting Sports, Middle School Golf, and Middle School Tennis.
As of now, our fall middle school athletics practices will start in August, but our local league (Augusta-Aiken Middle School League) games/matches have been pushed back until after Labor Day. Fall varsity athletics will proceed as planned with the exception of football. Per the GISA, varsity football games have been pushed back two weeks and the first game will be held on Sept.11th.
Please take time to browse the entire Athletics section of the new website. You will find a tremendous amount of valuable information – a downloadable physical & concussion form, directions to all off-site athletic contest locations, Booster Club information, highlights from previous years, and a host of other things.
All students competing in fall athletics will need an updated physical form. Forms are good for the entire school year and can be completed by a pediatrician or primary care physician. You may also take the forms to MedNow or a similar facility. Once complete, please turn your form in at the Middle School or Upper School office.
Athletic physical forms are available online. Please remember to complete the entire form (INCLUDING the concussion form which is the last page) and sign where applicable. Physicals must be on file for athletes to practice and compete.
Additional Athletic Information:
Now is the time to join the Booster Club! A Family Membership is only $185 for the entire year and among other benefits, provides free admission to all regular-season home athletic contests. Other membership levels are also available. Thanks to the efforts of the Booster Club over the past several years, numerous capital improvements have been made. Don’t miss the opportunity to join this loyal and hard-working group of parents, grandparents, and friends of Westminster.
