Our football team makes school history!

Athletics News: Football | Westminster

With the win last Friday night, the varsity football team won the region championship for the first time in school history.  This is the tenth year of varsity football at Westminster and we are so proud of our young men bringing home a region title, however there is still work to be done.  The Wildcats earned a spot in the state semi-final game by beating Crisp Academy 55-22.

The defense was once again playing well and were led by leading tacklers Jacob Heaton, Caleb Lindman, and Taylor Edmonds.  The defense also recovered three fumbles on the evening, scooped up by Heaton, Edmonds, and Benjamin Bayliss.

On offense, the Wildcats were led by a multitude of players.  Before getting injured early in the second quarter, QB Thomas Saul threw a 50 yard touchdown pass to Grant Fuller.  Sam Carter also had a receiving touchdown and Keller Pantsari and Joseph Jackson got in on the action by scoring rushing touchdowns.  All of the seniors truly shined on senior night at Wildcat Stadium, but one senior had arguably his best game of the season.  Grant Fuller put on a show.  Not only did he punt, hold place kicks, and play defensive line, he also scored about every way possible.  He caught a touchdown pass, threw for a touchdown, and ran for three more on the night.

Congrats to the Westminster varsity football team on being the #1 team in the region and we wish all the best this Friday 11/15/19 as the guys play in the state semi-final right here at home.  The game time is 7:00pm, so please come out and support your Wildcats.
