Westminster varsity football team wins against the Holy Spirit Prep Cougars.

The varsity football team traveled to Holy Spirit Prep this past Friday and came away with a hard-fought victory against the Cougars. The first half was almost even as it saw the Wildcats take a 7-6 lead into halftime, however, the Cats came alive in the third quarter scoring 28 unanswered points. The final score on was the night 35-14. The offensive attack was led once again by the dynamic duo of running backs. Joseph Jackson and Jack Baker carried the ball for a combined 150 yards and each scored a pair of touchdowns. The other score came from a Thomas Saul pass to Sam Carter as he broke away for another touchdown. Along with Carter, the leading receivers on the night were Grant Fuller and JD Kassner. Of course, no scores are ever made without a fantastic offensive line led by Jake Heaton, Liam Banks, and Taylor Edmonds. Edmond and Heaton also led the defense with Jake Heaton collecting 7 tackles including 3 sacks. Another huge defensive play was made by Caleb Lindman as he picked off the HSP quarterback in the third quarter to continue to give the Wildcats the momentum in the second half. The guys will play at home this upcoming Friday at 7:30pm against Twiggs Academy.
