Despite their youth and inexperience, the Girls Cross Country team is excelling!

The Girls Cross Country Team is off to a fantastic start to their season, with new talent leading the way! Freshman Libby Carter and Emerson Eubank have started their varsity careers like seasoned pros, beginning by placing 8th and 9th at the GMC Small School Showcase on August 29th. Although only the first meet of the year, both girls were within seconds of state-level times by much more experienced runners in 2018. Meanwhile, rookie Sophomore Rachel Goodell has consistently raced well, working her way up to a 2nd on the team in the past two races.
Junior Captain Reagan Lutz and returning sophomore Claire Peacock are starting to find their stride as they benefit from early season strength work. Both recently moved up in team rankings, and show no signs of slowing down!
The team has competed in three meets this season. Each meet had its own focus, and the girls have come together to rise to the challenge every time. The team scores were:
August 29: GMC Small School Invitational 2nd of 13 teams
September 3: Greenbrier at Wildwood Park 5th of 7 much larger teams
September 11: North Augusta 1st place with 6 girls in the top 10
The Wildcats next compete at the Aubrae Gunderson Invitational in Conyers, GA on September 21.
