Kudos to grade 3 for raising $1,035.90! Last week Westminster’s grade 3 class partnered with Samaritan’s Purse, to purchase clean water filters for families in Africa, for this year's service-learning project. The challenge was to track water usage by placing coins in buckets every time water was used.
"The goal of this project was to teach the students how blessed we are to have clean water at our disposal," stated Grade 3 teacher, Megan Perry. "The students were all amazed once they saw how much money they raised and how fortunate we are to not have to worry about having clean water every day."
Learning to be water conscious wasn't the only skill the students honed during this project, math came into play when they had to count all of the change that they raised. "Our service-learning project was a lot of fun, I loved getting to count all of the change at the end," said Grade 3 student, Peyton Moultrie.
Thank you to our grade 3 students, parents, and teachers for contributing to the service-learning project!
