The Student Leadership Team reveals this year's school-wide theme at Opening Convocation!

On Friday, August 9, the entire student body gathered for Opening Convocation in the Lower School Gym. The program included worship led by Miss Van Duzer, opening remarks by Mr. Case, and the Upper School Student Leadership Team (SLT) revealing the school-wide theme for this 2019-20 school year, "So Will I," based on verse Philippians 3:17.
This year's theme personally challenges all Westminster students, faculty and staff to follow Jesus daily. SLT member, Grace Pridemore said, "What I love about this year's theme is how it's a personal challenge. It forces you to hold yourself accountable and calls you to follow Christ. Which is different from the other themes in the past. It holds me accountable to be the best leader."
Every year our Student Leadership Team has the opportunity to spend a week of their summer in the Colorado mountains where they bond as a team, learn more about what it means to be a leader and plan the theme verse. When asked the motivation behind the theme, current Senior Jack Baker said, "On our first night of the SLT retreat, it became apparent that we wanted to ask the difficult question, 'Am I going to follow Jesus?' I'm excited to be in a position of leadership where I can help drive that question. I'm hoping the discussions are deep and convicting."
The banner, designed by SLT members and revealed at Opening Convocation, will proudly hang in the Knox Hall cafeteria all year as a reminder of this challenge.
