Varsity Cross Country Goes to Camp
A week of running in the North Carolina mountains brings the team together!
Several members of the WSA Cross Country team traveled to Montreat, North Carolina for a week of running and learning at Montreat College's Running Camp. Over the 5 days of camp the team enjoyed lots of running with others from around the country as well as some world-class guest speakers. Topics included trail/mountain running, sports psychology, goal setting, strength training, proper warm up/cool down and many more.
Free time was spent enjoying the beautiful Black Mountain region with a special trip to Lake Lure for a fun beach day. Each evening a worship service was held where gifted speakers shared what the Lord had put on their heart. On Wednesday night 2016 Olympian Abbey Cooper spoke of the topic of how to really give God the glory when things are going your way and when they unravel in front of you.
Overall it was a fantastic week of growing together as a team, as runners, and most importantly as believers in Christ. The Wildcats have been working hard all summer and are looking forward to a great season starting with the first day of official practice on August 5th.
