Varsity Baseball Wins Big in SRP Park
Athletics

Varsity Baseball makes a statement at SRP Park!

Westminster Schools of Augusta baseball is off to a solid 4-2 start to the
2019 baseball season. The Wildcats gained early wins versus Aquinas (10-6)
and Trinity Christian-Dublin (8-0). The win against 2018 state
semi-finalist infused a lot of confidence in the club, but soon after it
suffered back-to-back losses to Trinity Christian (9-7) and Edmund Burke
(8-6) in games shortened due loss of daylight. The Wildcats climbed back in
the win column with a 16-3 victory over Briarwood Academy and a victorious
battle versus crosstown rival Augusta Christian 14-10 at SRP Park.
The Wildcats baseball team has had a lot of defensive letdowns and
inconsistent pitching, but the offense has been a tremendous force in its
efforts to give the team opportunities to win. One of the brightest spots
in the lineup through 6 games has been Junior Grant Fuller. Fuller has hit
6 home runs in 6 games, and two games he has hit multiple homeruns. Senior
Noah Jordan and Freshman Charlie Freeman have helped pace the Wildcats by
being a constant on the base paths.
The Wildcats open up region play this Friday night at Loganville Christian,
and hopefully the comeback win against Augusta Christian will provide a huge boost
of confidence for the club going into this game.
