Westminster Celebrates #GivingTuesday with Competition vs. Augusta Prep

Westminster Schools of Augusta will celebrate #GivingTuesday this year with a competition against Augusta Preparatory Day School in its 2018-2019 Annual Fund Drive.

Westminster Schools of Augusta will celebrate #GivingTuesday this year with a competition against Augusta Preparatory Day School in its 2018-2019 Annual Fund Drive.

Supporters of the two schools are asked to donate to the Annual Fund, with the school receiving the highest dollar amount on #GivingTuesday, Nov. 27, receiving a trophy. Also, the Head of School at the school with the largest number of donations will get to throw a pie in the face of the losing Head of School at an Augusta Prep-Westminster basketball game later this season.

Westminster's annual fund is commonly known as the Westminster Fund.

#GivingTuesday, founded in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y, is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year's #GivingTuesday will take place on Nov. 27 and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back.

The Westminster Fund is key to the schools' financial health and day-to-day operations because it supports all the components of a Westminster education, including: a rich and robust curriculum; opportunities for success in athletics; a wide variety of programs in the arts; and the ability to retain talented faculty and staff.

"Gifts made to the Westminster Fund are the single most important way you can give to the school," said Wesley Brown, director of development at Westminster. "Every donation, every pledge is important and appreciated."
