Testimony to Quality Christian Education

Alumni Madison Roberts, shares his testimony to quality Christian education and lifelong impact below.

A gift of great worth!

God is calling.  Am I ready?

My path to a life of ministry hasn’t been a traditional one. Having had careers as an engineer and a lawyer, and happily married to my wife, Becca, along with three magnificent children, one might question why at age 40 I want to change my life in pretty much every way. The reason is that God is calling, and I am ready to answer!

Admittedly, God’s call to ministry at 40 years of age caught me a little off guard, but it was not a total shock. I was assimilated into the family of God at 7 years old when I was enrolled at Westminster Schools of Augusta, a Presbyterian-based, college preparatory school. For 12 years, we prayed, read Scripture, and were exposed to God’s love as our teachers graciously dedicated themselves to instructing us with Christ-like direction and devotion. Our classes included a year-long study in apologetics, a class where world history was overlaid by biblical history, and numerous classes where an exegetical review of Scripture was a significant part of the syllabus. This foundation is as much of who I am as the blood running through my veins.

Now, after nearly completing my first year at Princeton Theological Seminary, I am so humbled that I have been called to the ministry. God has continued to mold and shape me, while confirming that he made me exactly as I am and that the talents He has so graciously bestowed upon me are truly from Him – designed perfectly to do His work. I have a way to go, but the journey is just as important as the destination, and there is so much comfort and joy knowing that I am heading to a place where God wants me to be.
