Why should we give?
Your gift to the Annual Fund is a vote of confidence in your school. The money you give is essential to the operation, continued strength, and progress of Westminster. Widespread participation by alumni, parents, staff, and board members is a primary factor in whether or not we receive funding from outside sources through grants and foundation gifts.
How much should we give?
The level of giving is a personal decision for each family. Your gift to Westminster is an investment with enormous returns. You are providing the best for your children and for all the students of Westminster. Please give according to your means, knowing that your gift is essential to the success of our school.
Why should my gift be unrestricted?
Giving an unrestricted gift to the Annual Fund is primary to the successful operation of the school. Unrestricted gifts allow your gift to be used in the area of greatest need. Beyond giving an unrestricted gift, many donors make an additional gift directed to a particular department or program that they wish to fund. These gifts are welcome and contribute greatly to the advances made in many areas of school life.
Is my gift tax-deductible?
In most cases, yes. Westminster is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. This allows all gifts made to the school to qualify for a tax deduction. However, you will need to consult with your tax advisor for rules governing your specific tax situation.
How can I make a gift?
We accept donations of cash, credit card, stocks and securities, and personal property. Checks should be made payable to Westminster Schools of Augusta and sent to Cary Rivers. For credit card gifts, you can mail or email me the type of credit card, card number, gift amount, expiration date, and billing address. Stocks and securities are a wonderful way to make a meaningful gift because you avoid capital gains taxes. This type of gift should be directed to our Georgia Bank & Trust account DTC #0443, account #3R5-424286.
This year we are offering a new way to make a gift. Parents of WSA students can make a pledge and have the amount added to their tuition statement. It can be a monthly, quarterly, or one-time gift. If you would like to do this, please print a copy of the Pledge Statement from the link above and mail or fax (706 - 261-7786) it to the Development Office.
What are matching gifts?
Many companies offer matching gifts for their employees. This allows your gift to be doubled or even tripled. Please check with your human resource representative before you make your gift to the school. I will gladly send in the information required by your employer for the matching gift.
