Student Support Team

The Advisory Program along with the Student Support Team at Westminster form an umbrella that assures that the needs of the students are met in every aspect of school life. There are a variety of people available to assist students and their families.

The school principals are available to:

_ Discuss all academic matters.

_ Advise students and parents about course selections.

_ Address all academic scheduling matters.

_ Assist advisors in helping students request the best possible academic program for the next school year.

_ Discuss issues related to the daily life of the Upper School.

_ Be a contact for teachers and advisors.

_ Attend parent/student/teacher conferences (upon request).

_ Conduct one-on-one counseling with students.

_ Explain school rules and guidelines and be responsible for the overall enforcement of school rules.

 

The Counseling Department is available to:

_ Provide confidential personal counseling.

_ Meet with students and their families for short-term counseling.

_ Work with teachers, advisors, and administrative heads.

_ Conduct seminars on various topics (e.g. adolescent development, drug and alcohol use and abuse, gender differences).

_ Conduct and/or refer students for therapy and/or testing.

 

The Director of Educational Services is available to:

_ Assess for learning difficulties.

_ Develop with students learning approaches that are effective and successful.

_ Conduct one-on-one counseling with students.

_ Administer and/or refer students for an educational test battery.

_ Conduct seminars and training for faculty.

_ Conduct meetings with students, parents, and faculty.

_ Determine effective strategies to support students.

 

The Director of College Counseling is available to:

_ Advise on all college matters, including College Board testing.

_ Meet with students and parents to discuss college choices.

_ Assist students with the college admission process.

_ Conduct special programs for students and parents.

_ Advise on summer growth and pre-college summer educational opportunities.
