Mission Statement
"The Westminster Schools of Augusta are Christian college preparatory schools dedicated to the education of students by offering an excellent educational program grounded in a Biblically based Christian world view and distinguished by high academic challenge, character development, and extracurricular opportunities."
Core Beliefs
At the Westminster Schools of Augusta, we believe . . .
-
The chief end of man is to know God and enjoy Him forever.
-
All truth, wisdom, and knowledge find their origin in and belong to the God of the Bible.
-
Education is most excellent when viewed through the lens of a Biblical world view.
-
All trustees, administrators, faculty, and staff espouse a Biblical world view and affirm their Christian faith and commitment.
-
Faculty, administrators, and trustees serve as role models and will demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit, Biblical character, and a compelling Christian faith to the students enrolled at Westminster.
-
Each student is a special creation of God and has been given a unique set of gifts and abilities with which to serve and honor God. Westminster is to help each student identify and develop his or her God-given gifts and abilities.
-
Education is a partnership between the home and school. Parents should support the mission of the school and provide a structured environment at home so their children can prosper.
Students need to be challenged to strive for high academic achievement in a rigorous course of instruction to prepare for college and leadership roles in the future.
-
Students must learn to think critically, to discern what is true and appropriate, and to make wise decisions.
-
Students must learn leadership skills, personal responsibility, and self-discipline in order to serve effectively our local communities, our nation, and the world.
-
Every discipline has a body of knowledge that must be taught and skills that must be mastered.
-
Teachers are to use a variety of teaching methods in order to address different learning styles of their students and are to provide them with opportunities to demonstrate their strengths and improve their weaknesses.
-
School should be a safe place and provide a sense of security. Appropriate rules and boundaries contribute to that sense of security and help create a structured learning environment.
-
The school should be characterized by a servanthood ethic, and that opportunities for community service should be available at all levels.
