Westminster "This Week in Athletics"
Welcome to this week in Westminster athletics. It is our goal to impact
our students and community for God's kingdom through the pursuit of
excellence in the athletic arena.
We are excited about all that is going on at our school, our athletic
program and with our Booster Club. Be sure to pass the good news to your
friends and families about the exciting opportunities at our school
athletically, academically and in the fine arts. Below is a schedule of
events that highlights the opportunities that you have to be part of our
community in the next two weeks. Feel free to contact me with any
questions concerning our athletic program at 706-731-7780 ext. 2320 or
at
mfreace@wsa.net. In addition, please
direct any Athletic Booster Club questions to our Presidents Glen and
Rhonda Barinowski at
rhondabarinowski@bellsouth.net.
We appreciate your support of Wildcat Athletics and look forward to
seeing you at the field, court, pool or course soon.

WEEKLY
HIGHLIGHTS
Athletic Booster
Club
Booster Memberships and Cat Cash
It is not too late to join the Booster Club and enjoy free admission to
all home athletic contests for the rest of the year. Also, plan to take
advantage of our new Cat Cash Cards.
These cards may be
purchased at the concession stands for $10 and are accepted as payment
at any concession stand throughout the year. Cat Cash cards will be
punched in $1 increments, with change returned for purchases made under
an even dollar amount.
Booster Volunteers
Needed
If you would be interested in helping the Booster Club with varsity
football parking and concessions, we would love to have you! We
are recruiting volunteers for set-up (beginning at 4:00 p.m.), parking
(beginning at 5:30 p.m.), concessions (1.5 hour shifts beginning at 5:30
p.m.), and clean-up (immediately following the game). Please e-mail
Elisabeth Robinson at
ewrobby@comcast.net if you are willing
to volunteer. This is a great way to get to know other parents at
Westminster!
Varsity Football
The varsity football team opened their inaugural season against Curtis
Baptist with a 17-15 victory. Congratulations to the boys on their first
win in school history.
After this exciting win
and an away game this Friday (9/3) night at David Emanuel Academy, we
have another opportunity to support our Wildcats on Friday, September 10
as Memorial Day School comes from Savannah to play here at Westminster.
Kick-off will again be
at 7:30 p.m., with gates opening at 6:00 p.m. Concessions and hot
food from the grill will be available at that time, so plan to make it
an evening of tailgating with family and friends!
Middle School Football
The middle school football team will play its first game of the season
against Augusta Prep on Thursday, September 2 at 6:00 p.m. Booster
Club members and all Westminster students enjoy free admission.
(Please bring your Booster Club card, Junior Booster Club card, or
student ID to show at the gate.)
Admission is $4 for all
other adults and $1 for students. This game is the Middle School
Football Frenzy so all middle school students are particularly
encouraged to attend. Come and join the fun and cheer on our
Wildcats!
The middle school
football team will also be in action at home next week on
Thursday, September 9th. Our middle school Wildcats will play EDS
with
kick-off at 6:00 PM. Plan to join the fun and cheer on the future of our
football program!
Cross Country
The varsity cross country team competed in their first meet of the
season at Bulloch Academy. Senior Annie Speese came in first place in
the girl's division, while freshman Michael Montesclaros finished third
in the boy's division. The varsity cross country team is back in action
on September 8 at Edmund Burke.
Also, join us in
supporting the Westminster Cross Country team
as it hosts this very first home meet on the newly-completed cross
country
trail. The First Annual WESTMINSTER FAST FIVE Meet will be held on
Thursday
September 23rd at 4:30 PM. This unique and elite varsity race begins and
ends on the upper practice field, and winds two miles throughout the
campus. An exciting event is expected, with several local teams
already committed to compete. The Trail Dedication Ceremony and Ribbon
Cutting will be held immediately prior to the race. Come and be a
part of a new Westminster tradition!
